Beech Mountain Directions
From the Greensboro/Winston-Salem Area
Take US 421 N to Boone. Turn left onto NC 105. Follow 105 for 15
miles and then turn right onto NC 184.
Follow NC 184 to Banner Elk
and then turn left onto NC 194/184.
NC 184 will veer to the right
and become South Beech Mountain Parkway.
Follow NC 184/Beech
Mountain Parkway into Town.
From the Charlotte Area
Take I-85 S towards Gastonia.
Take Exit 17, and turn left onto US
321 N.
Follow US 321 to Boone.
In Boone, turn left onto NC 105.
Follow 105 for 15 miles and then turn right onto NC 184.
Follow NC
184 to Banner Elk and then turn left onto NC 194/184.
NC 184 will
veer to the right and become South Beech Mountain Parkway.
Follow NC
184/Beech Mountain Parkway into Town of Beech Mountain.
From the Johnson City, TN Area
Travel on I-26 toward Asheville.
Take exit 31
and merge onto US-321 N toward Elizabethton/Milligan College.
Stay
on US-321 to Elizabethton.
Turn right at traffic light at US-321 and
G Street.
Turn right and next light onto TN-361/Gap Creek Rd. Stay
on Gap Creek Rd. until it intersects with US-19E S. Turn right onto
US-19E S/Tn-37 S/Veterans memorial Pkwy.
Continue on US-19E S for 17
miles. Turn left onto NC-194/Banner Elk Hwy. Continue on NC-194 for
6.5 miles.
Turn left onto NC-184/Beech Mountain Parkway.
Stay on
this road to the Town of Beech Mountain.
Beech Mountain
Located within a day's drive of over half of the country's
population, Beech Mountain is nestled in the Southern
Appalachian
Highlands between Roan Mountain, Tennessee, and Boone, North
Carolina. Its less than 6 hours from Atlanta, less than 7
from Cincinnati, and only 5 hours from Nashville, Tennessee.
The Town of Beech
Mountain is located in North Western North Carolina near the
North Carolina - Tennessee state line. The Town is situated on
the Watauga/Avery County Line at the end of NC 184. NC 184, also
known as The Beech Mountain Parkway, is the main road into the
town from Banner Elk.

Beech Mountain Community Profile
At an elevation of 5,506 feet Beech Mountain is the highest
incorporated town east of the Rockies. The Town has a full
time
population of about 290, but the population swells to as high as
12,000 during the winter and 6,000 in the summer. People flock
to Beech Mountain in the winter to ski at
SkiBeech and in the
summer to take advantage of the mild climate and numerous
recreational opportunities. Even though there are only about 290 full
time residents on Beech Mountain, there are approximately 2,000 dwelling units on the mountain. Beech Mountain has become a
popular location for vacation and 2nd homes for many people from
North Carolina to Florida.
